Intro

Mott MacDonald is a global leader in railway engineering with capabilities covering the full spectrum of planning, design, construction and operation management. To assist clients with the rail system driven process we developed our own traction power simulation software, TRAIN, which is recognised as valuable and innovative in the industry.

With the development of every new rail line or upgrade of an existing rail system, a careful and comprehensive analysis has to be undertaken to ensure the project will fulfil the demands of operations imposed, without compromising the efficiency of the rail system.

Rolling stock fleet size, scheduling of train services, power consumption and electrical traction systems parameters need to be determined to enable a rail system to function properly. TRAIN can be used as a complete analysis package to determine all of these functions.
